When I popped into the sports shop yesterday morning, he asked me how school was. We had a bit of a chat that only lasted a few minutes, but it was nice. He has a nice smile.
I wonder what his name is?

I've been thinking about it. But not sure the best way to drop it into a conversation.
Kind of made a fool of myself last time with James.

What are you afraid of? I'm seriously asking this, not just rhetorically.
Normally, people don't think anything of it when being asked for their name.
Just say: "oh, by the way, what's your name". Then tell him yours. And then continue with your conversation ![]()
There's nothing wrong with that. And if you do feel the need to justify your question (which you shouldn't!), say something like: "I just like to know the names of nice people". Well, maybe not exactly that, but something similar.
Best of luck!
